Dr. Germán Goldszmidt is an IBM Distinguished Engineer, now Cloud Consumption Leader for the IBM Watson and Cloud Platform. Back in 1999 he led the first IBM Cloud prototype, which delivered multiple technologies to support IBM solutions and server management products. He designed, developed and integrated IP load balancer for 96’official Olympic Games Web site, and WebSphere Network Dispatcher. He held numerous technical leading positions in IBM, including in Research, Software, Global Markets and Cloud. He led multiple seed projects that transferred technology to IBM products, and deployed solutions at many customers. He directed the Software Group Advanced Technology Program, where he led dozens of incubation projects worldwide, in diverse technical areas. In 2011-2013 he was the CTO for IBM in Latin America, responsible for the development of IBM’s technical community in Latin America, drive the technical strategy for the region and supporting key clients and critical initiatives. For his technical accomplishments he received multiple Outstanding Technical Achievement awards. He has published more than 50 papers in refereed journals and conference proceedings, and holds 18 patents. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Columbia University (New York) in the field of network management.
